Our picture postcard cottage is over 200 years old and is in the North York Moors National Park, one of the most beautiful landscapes in the country.
There are views of the surrounding countryside from the garden and most of the rooms, and the River Derwent is just across the road.
This is wonderful walking country and there are numerous rambles from the doorstep.
The area is a paradise for bird watchers and nearly 40 species have been spotted from the cottage. The RSPB reserve at Bempton Cliffs, famous for its puffin colony, is a short drive away, and there are numerous woodland species to be seen in nearby Forge Valley at Birdwatcher's car park.
The unspoilt village of Hackness nestles in a peaceful and romantic vale and is an ideal place to explore the delights of the Yorkshire Heritage Coast, the North York Moors and the Yorkshire Wolds.
Yorkshire has been named the UK's top holiday destination, an accolade given by the World Travel Awards.
The award was voted for by travel agents around the world, and reflects the fact that more than 216 million people visit the county each year.
Hackness is the perfect base to explore this beautiful area - why not come and see for yourself?
