Welcome to our holiday cottage

Our picture postcard cottage is over 200 years old and is in the North York Moors National Park, one of the most beautiful landscapes in the country.

There are views of the surrounding countryside from the garden and most of the rooms, and the River Derwent is just across the road.

This is wonderful walking country and there are numerous rambles from the doorstep.

The area is a paradise for bird watchers and nearly 40 species have been spotted from the cottage. The RSPB reserve at Bempton Cliffs, famous for its puffin colony, is a short drive away, and there are numerous woodland species to be seen in nearby Forge Valley at Birdwatcher's car park.

The unspoilt village of Hackness nestles in a peaceful and romantic vale and is an ideal place to explore the delights of the Yorkshire Heritage Coast, the North York Moors and the Yorkshire Wolds.

Yorkshire has been named the UK's top holiday destination, an accolade given by the World Travel Awards.

The award was voted for by travel agents around the world, and reflects the fact that more than 216 million people visit the county each year.

Hackness is the perfect base to explore this beautiful area - why not come and see for yourself?

In line with Government advice on the Coronavirus outbreak (COVID-19), Derwent View is closed for the time being.   We would, however, be delighted to hear from you if you are interested in booking for later this year, or for next year, and would be happy to pencil your dates in.  Please feel free to contact us to discuss your holiday plans, and stay safe and well until we can all take holidays again.
